Philippines Video Complete… Finally!

As you are probably aware from my previous post, Travel to the Philippines, that I’ve been working hard on compiling all of our wonderful photos and videos into a single video to make it easier for sharing our trip with friends and family.

Let me tell you, it is a huge amount of work to get all of the information included and it takes a lot of time to edit the footage that we took. iMovie is pretty great, but I’ve had my share of issues with it as well. If you are going to make a video similar to the one I have created (link below), then take a look at some of my suggestions in this post.

Set aside time each day to edit your videos!

If you are even considering making a compilation video like I did after a long vacation, or even after a week of vacation, I highly recommend starting your editing process immediately. I spent countless hours (probably more than 30) just in trimming through the videos and cutting down the sheer amount of garbage content that I had captured with my GoPro Hero 5 Black. If you take time each day to do a little bit, it’ll all be done in no time.

Don’t get over stressed about finishing the project!

Completing a project like this can seem like it’ll never end. It is very hard not to stress out about it and try to crank it all out in a single day. I tried a few different times to sit down and just finish the video through and through, but it didn’t work. I either got frustrated with myself, or with the content I was going through. You’ll get finished eventually! Try setting a deadline for yourself and as I mentioned above, make time each day or each weekend to work on it.

Enjoy your video! Trust me your friends and family will too!

If you enjoy your video after all the hard work you put into it, your friends and family will also enjoy watching it. After you make a few different videos, you’ll start to get better ideas of how to transition certain frames together or how to modify something to make it more pleasing to watch on a T.V. The best advice I have, is just enjoy it!

P.S. If you’ve used iMovie for editing, you might run into some pink lines and playback glitches after processing the video. Check out this site for some information on how to fix it: iMovie Playback Glitches – Aw Diddums

I had some other options at the end of the comments there to process the video as an .mov type file instead of .mp4, which seems to produce better results, but a huge file is the outcome.
