Daily Prompt – Commit

Giving something your all, proving to yourself or someone else that you can and will do something, there are so many ways to show you are committed to something.

To commit, for me, means to give something my all without giving into failure or giving up until I have truly given it my all. Commitment applies in many cases; work, school, family, friends, and so many more.

Relationship commitment is a big key feature for a lot of people when they think of today’s Daily Prompt word. Committing to a significant other is one of my personal prides and I definitely put a lot of myself into being committed to Monel and I’s relationship.

There are a lot of people who might have trouble with commitment. Maybe it scares them, or maybe they’ve been hurt by someone before so they have a hard time trusting people and committing to someone themselves now because of it. Whatever the case is for you, try and commit to something and stick it out, give it your all!

Always remember, you have the power to do anything, no matter what anyone says!

What kind of things do you struggle with commitment on?

Daily Prompt: Delta

Transitions in life or changes in life can be hard to manage and deal with sometimes. Today’s daily Prompt is about the world Delta.

Delta can be the difference in something or a transition into something. Learning to deal with things during a transition or a change is hard but figuring out a way to handle it is the key solution. Find something good about the change. Find the positive in the situation changes can be good or bad but there is always a bright side. Focus on that and you will come out on top.

The delta of a water way collecting together and leading into a larger body of water symbolizes a similar phenomena. Focus on the greatness around how something is being created or more concentrated. The other way to look at it would be to focus on the smaller item becoming something more and something greater.

Stay classy!

Travel Preparation

I got confirmation from my boss at work that we have to go to Mexico to help with some issues again. We leave one week from today. It will be a busy month before Monel and I leave for the Philippines (Pilipinas). After I get back from Mexico it will be the Fourth of July then the weekend after my cousin’s graduation party (from high school). Then one weekend before leaving for our trip 😁.

I’m really excited for the trip and looking forward to some good experiences while there. I’ve never been there of course so it will be a very eye opening experience for me. Traveling with Monel is always an exciting experience to spend more time together. Stay tuned for more updates about the travels.

As a quick note, keep your mind clear and free with putting some time aside each day to reflect on how your day and week have been. Focus on your breathing and relax.

Mindfulness and Meditation

Sunday relaxation and learning

I was going to write yesterday with some great thoughts in mind but ended up just relaxing instead. Sometimes relaxation is one of the best ways to calm the mind and unwind from a busy week or just to unwind to unwind.

I had not used my hammock in quite a while so I decided to take a nice long walk down to the local park and set it up. Once I got to the point I could lay down with a wonderful sound of the river rushing by and a slight breeze I was in relaxation mode. The birds were singing and I was ready for some meditation and relaxation. As I laid in my hammock listening to Pimsleur’s Tagalog (trying to learn), I felt completely relaxed and began to stare up into the sky at the tops of the trees just focusing in on what I was listening to. Focusing on my thoughts and listening to my surroundings always allows me to ease my head and let go of the stress that builds up over the week.

Learning to speak and understand Tagalog has been quite hard but I really enjoy it (Monel does too, hopefully one day I will be fluent). Learning another language is difficult but without learning what do we have to do in life? Not much, living day to day without learning anything, I can’t even imagine what life would be like.

Further planning for our trip to the Philippines is underway and soon we will be leaving to go. I can’t believe it is already just over a month away :).

It’s time for me to get some sleep now.

Mindfulness and Meditation

Busy week of work this week, but still made time for exercise

This week was beyond busy with things at work. I had to follow up on multiple issues and discuss many different things with the customer as well as internal team members. Being an engineer can be quite stressful at times but managing that stress is very important, anyone who is an engineer can vouche for that.

Through all the busy time and stress of this week I still made sure to get to the gym every morning before work and to try and get my 10k steps in everyday (wasn’t quite successful this week haha).

Some further planning is needed yet for Monel and I with our upcoming trips and visits but we are getting there. I am very excited to travel again, obviously I love traveling. Keeping things in perspective all the time is a key ingredient to staying appreciative of the things that one has earned or achieved rather than becoming expective and getting let down when something doesn’t go according to the way that things make sense inside of the brain. This is obviously easier said than done for many people. One of the many things I have realized over the years is that no matter what is going on and how stressful things can get, it always helps to take a step back and breathe. Doing this while focusing on what’s going on and where life has brought you to can truly have an uplifting vibe to the rest of the day and week. Meditation can be a great way to relax and focus better on personal mental health. It’s like doing exercise for the brain and soul. If you haven’t tried meditation, I would greatly recommend it. Another option from meditation is what is called gratitude training or just try reconnecting with nature. I often find that taking a walk outside during a stressful time greatly reduces the stress and building anxiety.

If you’re looking at getting into meditation or relaxation, I highly recommend the app called Headspace or another one called Zen. They are both great for getting started. There is another great podcast for meditation as well. Check the links below for a quick and easy shortcut to each.
