Daily Prompt – Magnet

Whether you understand how magnetization works or not, at some point in your life you’ve likely been exposed to magnets or played with them or even just used them to hold up papers or pictures on the refrigerator.

The word magnet can mean something different based on the context or the person talking about it.

For example, a magnet usually pulls metallic and ferrous materials towards it, or pushes it away depending on how the poles of the magnet are facing. Using a magnet in this context is purely material and showing the usefulness of a magnet in life. I’ve used magnets to help find screws or bolts in a garage if something gets dropped I have a number of different magnetic devices to help find it. Even dropping some small screws in my living room I can find them easily with a magnetic wand.

Now that we’ve been through that, what other type of magnet will I bring up next? Have a think about this one, just for a second, imagine you’re in the middle of a field soaking up some sun rays and enjoying the day, you might feel like a magnet for the sun and possibly getting sunburned. But at that moment it doesn’t matter because the good vibes are also being magnetized toward you and you’re more than likely having a great day and pushing all of the negatives away from you like magnetic polar similarities would.

On the other end of the spectrum, when you’re having a bad day you might feel like you’re drawing in all of the bad things and nothing is going your way. In which case you’re attracting the bad and pushing away the good.

Life is all about perspective, attract the good and push away the bad.

Cheers and stay classy!

Daily Prompt – Illusion

When we live in each day of our lives we may not necessarily see all the things we think we see. I am talking about illusions. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They can even come at various times of the day.

Sometimes people are illusions in that they are true and honest at one moment and then in the next they are the complete opposite when you aren’t around. While out on a hot day you might think you see an ice cream stand or a pop machine with ice cold beverages in it, but when you get to it, it’s not there.

There isn’t much you can do to stop illusions like this but you can choose the good side of them to see. It means your mind is still creative. In the people case mentioned above, all you can do is to ensure to surround yourself with true and honest friends.

To further elaborate on illusion, I am sure there are hundreds of thousands of interpretations and these are just a couple of them. One thing I know for certain is the illusion I have seen time and time again. In my past, which brought me to believe that every year on the Fourth of July, I had to be on the Torch Lake Sandbar in Northern Michigan drinking with friends and however many other random people from all over the place were there.

This year, I had no interest in going there to have my boat get trashed with garbage and surrounded by drunk people. I ended up riding motorcycles with my dad to Boyne City and Horton Bay to see their awesome parades they have each year. If you ever get a chance, definitely go see them both, I promise you’ll love it!

Tiny Horton Bay, MI and the nice general store there. Horton Bay, “It ain’t over until the fat lady sings!” Always gets me.

Daily Prompt – Sunny

The sun is an extremely powerful source of energy. It heats the earth and gives plants their food. The amount of energy given off by the sun is purely amazing. You can sit out on a Sunny day and get absolutely fried to a crisp just by being exposed to it from 93,000,000 miles away.

Sunny, this daily prompt, reminds me of days outside playing and enjoying the beautiful day with friends or family. Sunny days are awesome because you get energy from the sun and it feels so great! It may drain energy from you or make you feel tired from being exposed to it but wow does it really have an affect on your body.

Sometimes on dark and cloudy days or rainy days it can be a bit depressing so thinking about sunny days can make it better 🙂 try and do that next time you’re feeling down on a bad day, just sit back and close your eyes and imagine the Sun is shining down on you warming up your body with its mighty power.

Always remember, on the darkest days, sunny times are ahead!

The feature picture on this post is from the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes when Monel and I were there hiking and swimming.

Travels in Los Angeles and San Diego, California

Earlier this year, Monel, Phoebe, and I took off out of Chicago for a week of vacation in Southern California. It was the first trip for the three of us, and it was a great one. We got to grow and bond together, which was really nice. Monel’s sister and her husband live out there so we stayed with them while we were there along with one night at her cousins place in L.A.

We got to see some amazing things while visiting the area and I had no idea how much there is to do in the San Diego area.

Visiting the San Diego Zoo, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and Sea World were all amazing sites to see. Of course we got to visit Pacific Beach where we played on the beach and got some sushi 🍣 and other delicious foods. I got to try Uni for the first time, it was very good. Unfortunately Monel had an allergic reaction to it, so I had to run to the store and get some medicine to help with that.

We got to ride the big air balloon at the safari park:

Here are some pictures from our dolphin 🐬 encounter at Sea World:
We also got to see a 4-D movie of Ice Age while visiting:

We went to Balboa park a few times and got to enjoy some of the great sites there. Here are a few pictures we took inside the park and inside the zoo:

We had a lot of fun in the area and hope to go back someday and see some more things. One of the other great spots we got to visit was in La Jolla. There were Sea lions and tons of sea shells that Phoebe was collecting.

When the trip was coming to a close we ended up going to see the naval museum for the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier. It was great to see inside the ship and learn about the way that the sailors lived on that ship.

On our way back to L.A. before we had to fly out we went and explored around Hollywood. It was pretty interesting to see the walk of fame and view Madame Toussettes Wax Museum. Some pretty interesting things to see in Hollywood but I must say it wasn’t as nice as many would think. We of course had to get our picture taken with the Hollywood sign as well because why wouldn’t we 🙂

We found the only star that you can’t walk on! 😁😁😁⭐️
We did get some delicious food for breakfast on one of our last days along with all the other tasty food we ate.

Overall it was a great trip and got to see a lot of the Southern California area while visiting. I would definitely recommend visiting if you haven’t been before to explore and see what it has to offer. There is so much more that we didn’t even get to see but maybe another time we will.

Hope you enjoy this post and all the pictures!

Stay classy!

Daily Prompt – Commit

Giving something your all, proving to yourself or someone else that you can and will do something, there are so many ways to show you are committed to something.

To commit, for me, means to give something my all without giving into failure or giving up until I have truly given it my all. Commitment applies in many cases; work, school, family, friends, and so many more.

Relationship commitment is a big key feature for a lot of people when they think of today’s Daily Prompt word. Committing to a significant other is one of my personal prides and I definitely put a lot of myself into being committed to Monel and I’s relationship.

There are a lot of people who might have trouble with commitment. Maybe it scares them, or maybe they’ve been hurt by someone before so they have a hard time trusting people and committing to someone themselves now because of it. Whatever the case is for you, try and commit to something and stick it out, give it your all!

Always remember, you have the power to do anything, no matter what anyone says!

What kind of things do you struggle with commitment on?

Stay classy!

Feelings are like waves

Feelings are like waves: credit: myStength from Aetna Resiurces for Living

“Feelings are much like waves – we can’t stop them from coming, but we can choose which one to surf. ” -myStrength

This is a wonderful quote seen in an email from Aetna Resources for Living. When first reading, it might not make much sense but really looking deeper and digesting it, it will all become clear.

When you have a large set of emotions and feelings coming on, take a look at them all, choose the one that is best, not necessarily the first one that comes at you. It can be very hard at times to choose the positive road and leave behind the bad, but try to break through it. Ride the good wave, see the good waves and conquer through the bad ones.

I hope this helps you through your day and as always, stay classy!
